The Original Pitch
I want to see a super villain with a deathtrap fetish. There are all kinds of interesting paraphilias out there: bondage, gynoids, boots, costume, etc. Wouldn't it be cool if there was an gadgeteer villain -- I'm calling him Doctor Developer -- whose kink was deathtraps. To be clear, it's not a snuff thing either, he's always getting caught because he rigs his traps to break at the last minute.
"I can't just go around killing people," Doctor Developer grumbled, "That would just be sick."
So, at some point, there's a government agency who's forming a team of heroes. They need a technologist, and one of the team members suggests D.D. to the team.
"It's not like he's evil or anything," Freedom Femme explained, "He robs banks and science labs for his robots. If he's wanted me dead-- I mean, come on. Waking up in a deathtrap for the fifth time is about the clearest message that he really didn't want me dead. Just let me ask, okay?"
It basically comes down to the proposal that D.D. gets to try out one new trap a month in exchange for his past charges being pardoned, a fully equipped lab, and a decent salary. That's basically better than any other deal he'd get. Kind of sexy, comedic riff on the whole deathtrap thing.
I think it'd be funny anyway.
